ABOUT
Whether you need CPR certification for your job, to meet school requirements, or for personal preparedness, Missouri has accredited training centers offering American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and ASHI classes. Most classes include hands-on skills practice and take between 2–6 hours to complete. Certifications are typically valid for two years.
STATE LAW
Missouri requires all high school students to receive hands-only CPR training and AED instruction before graduation under RSMo 170.310, enacted in 2017. Healthcare providers and EMS professionals must maintain Healthcare Provider level BLS/CPR certification through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The state also requires businesses, schools, and public venues to have AEDs on-site. Childcare centers, gyms, swimming pools, and community centers commonly require staff CPR certification. Both the American Red Cross and American Heart Association are accepted certification providers, with standard two-year renewal periods.
