CERTIFICATION TYPES
ABOUT
Whether you need CPR certification for your job, to meet school requirements, or for personal preparedness, Kansas has accredited training centers offering American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and ASHI classes. Most classes include hands-on skills practice and take between 2–6 hours to complete. Certifications are typically valid for two years.
STATE LAW
Kansas requires all licensed childcare providers to maintain current pediatric First Aid and CPR certification that includes a practical application component demonstrated in front of a nationally certified instructor. Home-based providers must complete training within 30 days of submitting their application, while center-based staff must certify within 30 days of employment or before being given sole responsibility for children. At least one CPR-certified provider must be present during all operating hours. Both AHA and Red Cross certifications are accepted with standard two-year renewal periods.
