Whether you need CPR certification for your job, to meet school requirements, or for personal preparedness, Maine has accredited training centers offering American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and ASHI classes. Most classes include hands-on skills practice and take between 2–6 hours to complete. Certifications are typically valid for two years.
STATE LAW
Maine requires high school students to receive CPR and AED instruction before graduation and mandates that all licensed childcare providers maintain pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certification with a hands-on skills component. Maine's Good Samaritan law (Title 14, Section 164) provides legal protection for anyone who provides emergency CPR care in good faith. EMS professionals require Healthcare Provider level BLS certification. Both AHA and Red Cross certifications are accepted with standard two-year renewal periods.
