Whether you need CPR certification for your job, to meet school requirements, or for personal preparedness, Alabama has accredited training centers offering American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and ASHI classes. Most classes include hands-on skills practice and take between 2–6 hours to complete. Certifications are typically valid for two years.
STATE LAW
Alabama requires at least two qualified staff members with current pediatric CPR and First Aid certificates to be present during all hours of childcare operation. The Alabama State Department of Education mandates that teachers maintain Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. High school students must also complete CPR training before graduation. Healthcare and EMS professionals maintain standard certification requirements. Both American Red Cross and American Heart Association certifications are accepted, with two-year renewal periods.
