Reading the onboarding funnel report

See where new tenants drop off during signup so you can spot friction and fix it.

When a brand-new tenant goes through the onboarding wizard at /onboarding, every step they finish is logged as an analytics event. The Onboarding Funnel report lets you see how many people start, how many drop off at each step, and how many finish.

Where to find it

For system admins, the report lives at System → Reports → Onboarding Funnel. For tenant admins, it does not apply — the funnel measures cross-tenant signup behaviour.

The 5 funnel steps

Step 1 — landed on /onboarding
Step 2 — started the wizard (entered tenant name)
Step 3 — created their account (email + password)
Step 4 — added a location and cert types
Step 5 — finished onboarding (landed on /admin)

How to read the report

1Open System → Reports → Onboarding Funnel.
2Pick a date range (last 7 days, last 30 days, or custom).
3Look at the funnel chart — each bar is a step and the width shows how many people reached it.
4Compare drop-offs between steps. The biggest drop is your friction point.
5Click any step to see the visitors who got there but did not advance.

💡

Tip: A healthy funnel completes 40-60% of starts. If you are seeing 10% completion, the friction is real and worth a UX pass.

Note: Events are written to analytics_events with type onboarding_step_X. You can query them directly in the Supabase SQL editor for ad-hoc analysis.
