Email delivery modes: Off, Admin only, and Live

How to pause email to students, test templates without hitting customers, or turn everything on — and why a system-level ceiling can override you.

Every tenant has three email delivery modes. Pick the one that matches what you need right now — testing, pausing, or sending live.

The three modes

ModeWhat happens
OffNo emails send. All outgoing email is suppressed and logged only. Use when you want to pause everything while you migrate or clean up data.
Admin onlyStudent emails are suppressed. You can still use the "Send test" button on each template to preview it to a test recipient. Best for staging / QA / template work.
LiveAll emails deliver normally to real recipients. The default for production tenants.
How to change the mode
  1. 1Go to Settings → Communications → Email (or https://cpr.co/admin/settings/communications/email).
  2. 2Under "Email delivery," click the card for the mode you want.
  3. 3Click Save changes.
  4. 4If your choice is allowed, the green checkmark moves and the mode is live.
  5. 5If the system has capped your tenant at a lower mode (see below), the page reloads and your selection reverts — the server blocks the escalation.

The system ceiling

The CPR.co platform can cap every tenant at a maximum delivery mode — usually during a platform-wide incident or while your tenant is in onboarding. If your tenant is capped at Admin only, an amber banner appears above the cards: "System ceiling is set to admin_only. You cannot exceed this setting."

ℹ️
Note: The cap is enforced server-side, so even if the Off / Live cards look clickable, the save will revert. If you genuinely need to be on Live and the system ceiling is blocking you, email support at support@cpr.co.

Sender display name

Below the delivery mode, the "Sender display name" field is what shows up in the "From" line of every email — "Your Business Name" vs. "CPR.co". Leave it blank to use the platform default, or type your business name and click Save. A "Reset to default" link appears once you have customized it.

💡
Tip: The Communications → Email page also has per-type notification toggles (booking confirmation, class reminders, cancellation notices). Those are separate switches below the delivery mode — see "Notification preferences" for more on those.
